There are "thought leaders" whose posts I could do without, but which appear in my timeline via people 'liking' them. The best I found is to unfollow the friends liking those posts.
Is there a better way? Besides "delete your account"?

Spot on. Cf Chambers (2016, Sec 1.1, "Three Principles"):
- Everything that exists in R is an object.
- Everything that happens in R is a function call.
- Interfaces to other software are part of R.
So a Big Yes!! to XR, #Rcpp, reticulate, ...

I highly recommend trying to use #reticulate and #Rcpp to call other languages in #Rstats. We have a luxury of tools and should make the best use of them. There is absolutely no need to accept the limitations of one toolset when others are on hand to use when more appropriate.
