Thank you to anyone who turned up to my experimental stream.
We managed to go from nothing to a cas client capable of uploading/downloading blobs, listing trees, and uploading entire directories full of stuff, in a few hours.
Pretty pleased with that.
Thinking about having a go at a coding stream tonight - anyone vaguely interested in seeing if we can hack up some clients for the remote execution API's content addressable storage system?
The module is v4l2loopback, with these options:
options v4l2loopback exclusive_caps=1 card_label="Virtual Camera"
Then OBS can feed that. You can then setup an OBS scene how you want it and export that as a camera for gmeet et al. to use.
You have to sort out a kernel module which lets OBS inject a fake camera into things. I sorted it all out in my nixos config but can't remember the details off the top of my head. Let me look it up
My mother in law had hers done over the past 6 months or so. She said it was very easy and not at all painful. I think techniques are very good these days.
