Heh, my solver looks for the word most likely to eliminate as much as possible while still meeting the constraints already learned. It is super hacky but was amusing to write last night :D

A friend has set up a petition asking the Government to extended the incentive for installation of renewable heating (such as heat pumps) in domestic premises; so far it's only been extended for businesses, but current supply constraints apply to everyone! change.org/p/department-for-…

oh indeed. I love sudoku because I can't write a solver better than I can solve them.

I made some more fun by writing an alternative scoring algorithm for deciding which word to try. Have run out of fun again.

Everyone else: I did wordle 'n' and it took me x guesses. me: Pfeh, I'mma write a solver me: oh, the fun is gone now.

I gave up on long-form blogging when I realised I needed to write pithy tl;drs to avoid this.

Did you foolishly not include a tl;dr for all those who will read the title and the first paragraph, maybe the second, and then go off on one rather than read the rest?

The important thing to remember about Novak Djokovic being denied entry to Australia after spending a day in the airport thinking he was more important than everyone else is that it is incredibly funny.

I'd go further and say that a spec which doesn't have clear executable tests is also inadequate. And by executable tests I'm more thinking gherkin style acceptance tests than unit tests.

so what you're saying is: the state of the blockchain DOESN'T always represent the truth, and truth is in fact a socially-constructed agreement that takes precedence over the blockchain? πŸ€”

My household's total electricity consumption for 2021 was ~1,200 kWh. Looking at the value (light, cooking, ...) I got from that (and the price I payed for it), it's insane that a single Bitcoin transaction would've used the same amount of energy. Stop Bitcoin & Co!
Replying to @DigiEconomist
In 2021 the Bitcoin network handled ~97 million transactions. This equals roughly 0.012% of the worldwide volume of non-cash transactions. Bitcoin was responsible for 0.54% of global electricity consumption. On average, that's 1,386 kWh per Bitcoin transaction.

I agree. I think rust has a long way to go before it'll be able to sit at the kernel level for more than small amounts. Though shells etc are already on the way

Insufficiently well expressed. Do you mean *ever* or do you mean *soon* ? Because I 100% agree with *soon* and it's quite possible that something even better will come along before Rust gets everywhere; but I don't think it's possible to make an *ever* claim.
