I am, as you are all no doubt aware, quite overweight. My brother suggested I get an electric bike as a way to encourage me to exercise, while giving me some assistance to stop me from giving up. What do you lot think?

4% Walk instead, lazy git!
15% Just get fatter instead!

ebikes are great for people who can't ride unassisted the distance they want to ride, if you want to ride for exercise then just get a normal one and ride recreationally. Pretty sure folding ebikes are not a thing too...

So the thing about wanting an ebike rather than a normal bike is that my bad leg means I want the assistance regardless. I'm currently fancying e-bikesdirect.co.uk/brands/wโ€ฆ I can turn off/down the assist to get more exercise as I get more confident and less enormously fat.

Biking can be fun, once you get over your legs being like lead weights after the first few rides, although on its own maybe not great for weight loss. Swimming might be better...

Just make sure that the frame/wheels will take extra weight. I'm having to be careful about picking a ladies road bike that can support 90+kg without distorting the wheel spokes.

It gets more complex when you realise Need a folding bike or I can't have it anyway because I have nowhere to keep a full-size bike I shall endeavour to take advice from a shop before ordering anything.
