The only problem I've ever had connecting to a projector was that it also took the sound and Erasure blasted out of the sound system.

Ditto I don't recall ever having an issue attaching to a projector (excepting the one time I only had VGA and the projector only had HDMI)

Oh, I assumed it was just standard Mac user superiority complex. You know, like Linux users and Windows users all have :-)

Not superiority complex, I just like not having to sysadmin my laptop and having most things generally work without faff.

Mine are. There are some x86 ones that have a lot more grunt though.

My understanding is that with dev mode you can still get the software updates but I confess I don't use it myself.
