If you have ethernet, why not spend ten euros on a cheap access point for it? I don't think our gen1 echo has ethernet.

but apparently it's "against their security rules", even though they could just enforce you use a strong password or mac specific :/

Yeah, some places have silly rules because they don't quite grok security :( A (brief) search suggests you're out of luck sadly :(

Unless you can persuade your uni to provide a limited service on a WPA2 Personal AP, rather than an enterprise one :(

I can't. I tried the support of my dorm and the support of my uni and they're being really stubborn, so I'm out of luck on that side :/
