If you have ethernet, why not spend ten euros on a cheap access point for it? I don't think our gen1 echo has ethernet.

*sigh* Because as I said a million times, it gets me banned from the uni's internet permanently. That's why.

but apparently it's "against their security rules", even though they could just enforce you use a strong password or mac specific :/

Yeah, some places have silly rules because they don't quite grok security :( A (brief) search suggests you're out of luck sadly :(
