Asked, why do I dislike GMail? Other choices aren't very viable - it's a monopoly. If you don't think that's a problem, read some history.

It's also a horrid horrid system and *NOT* RFC compliant which make sit a pain to interact with at an SMTP level.

ooo, didn't know that. Writeup? Separately though, I think the email protocols are all dead as UX has moved beyond them :(
