Has Chrome stopped showing a link's URL in the bottom left corner or am I miss-remembering that it used to?

I'm now on 53.0.2785.116 (Official Build) (64-bit) and it seems to be fine to me.

I find it often doesn't show the URL at the bottom, very maddening, no idea why.

The only time I find the URL doesn't show in the bottom left is when it's in the bottom right for not-obscuring-the-mouse
