The update process for an OCZ SSD is astonishingly shambolic. Worse than the average "boot DOS, run awdflash" BIOS update.

@dsilverstone so the problems were threefold: can't update the drive you booted from; can only update over AHCI; latest updater no worky

@dsilverstone had to pull the disk from wife (12 screws) and attach to my pc's helpful external SATA port, and run old ver of updater ISO
