I just saw a reference to Smokeping still being used, had flashbacks to a server getting pegged on IO because of RRD writes, and wondered if I should pick up my ancient project to write a replacement that uses a TSDB instead of RRD.

We use smokeping at home so we can berate @virginmedia when our Internet connection goes wonky. I'm happy to beta-test anything you come up with :D

To be fair, Smokeping is probably fine for those small use cases. I had tried to run it at a large scale before and nearly destroyed a server 😄
