Doesn't work on the markdown library in the project I need it for, because markdown is frustratingly inconsistent

Aah yeah that's more like it :( It does amaze me how so many things can go "Yeah I'm markdown" and then it turns out that they're not. While I hate mixing the HTML in, you ought to be able to do the last one in that hackmd (just added it)

Between half the most useful features being in the optional-to-implement Extended Syntax, numerous competing standards which are supersets of Markdown, and nobody every specifying which they're using, Markdown can be such a nightmare when it's supposed to be the easiest thing.
