A 25% speed up means new time is what multiple of old time?

I would but intuitively none of the options you gave make sense to my brain. I want to pick 80% (whether I'm right or not) - which is that?

25% speed up means five quarters of speed, so four fifths of time.

impressive use of five quarters. I would say 1 + 1/4, convert that to 5/4 (which is still 5 over 4 in my head), and be much slower about it.

I used to do a lot of speed/time calculations in my head because the gym reported treadmill speed, but my watch reported time per km.
