There are a lot of tweets floating around Zoom, privacy, and security, and none of them seem to be able to substantiate their claims with anything that looks like fact. Can anyone point to legit security research on the topic, rather than breathless opinions about EULA?

googling 'security problems with zoom client' reveals a significant number of discussions around them mid to late last year though nothing more recently. Given some of the articles suggest it was design decisions rather than bugs in some cases, confidence in Zoom is low for me.

There was a stupid β€œhey, we’re running an unsecured webserver as a privileged user on your machine now” thing last year which probably is the source of most of those discussions. My confidence in them was definitely shaken by that too.

But they did respond quickly to it, and improve the overall security of starting meetings. It’s also about the only product in this space that works reliably and consistently, and across all platforms.
