Hi fellow rust users I have some issues with my Linux machine, and now need to start my gui session through tty2 and manual startx At the same time, my rustup shims somewhat broke and i had to manually add ~/.cargo/bin to my PATH my question: how are the two related, if at all?

To clarify, I'm interested in how rustup handle this without going through the hassle of modifying my PATH because this is genuinely interesting shamelessly tagging @yaahc_

Even more shamelessly tagging the rustup maintainer @dsilverstone

Fortunately for both of you, I am entirely shameless also. I'd imagine that your profile or whatever is ending up governing the PATH you end up with in your X session is lacking ~/.cargo/bin as you said. `rustup` normally modifies ~/.profile or similar I believe.
