Thanks for the pointer, that saved me a ton of time. I rarely install to be honest - the systems I tend to use these data are either dist-upgrade’d from something years old or provisioned droplets from DO. :)

I haven't installed it in years. Closest recently was a debootstrap of aarch64 into a fresh ZFS filesystem for a test Pi 4 network boot... It now wipes all the discs?

If you turn on encrypted disk, it fills the disk with random so that it doesn't leak how much of the disk is in use

Agreed it’s sensible on the whole; I didn’t really have a day to wait for it to finish however... :)
