Step one - divide and conquer -- if you can, plug directly into the router so that you eliminate the wifi -- is the performance equivalent?

Always this. Try cable first. Then you know if it’s internet or wireless. If it’s internet engage provider. Your options for fault finding are limited. If it’s wireless mesh can make huge difference but so can 5ghz.
