Apparently this is a Germany thing, but here, both cigarette packs and ads are required by law to have a statement like "Smoking kills", "Smoking causes impotence" etc. below them in big letters. So all ads are like "Yes life is great but also DEATH"

The UK has the same, though advertising is somewhat more restricted. One thing I always end up noticing when I go to Germany is how much more smoking happens than I'm used to in the UK.

It's a EU requirement, AFAIK. It includes pictures of lung cancer and the likes. It's been a long while since I last saw a cigarette ad, though.
