Why do English people say "x to the power of three", that's way too long. Just say it the German way: "x high three"

I'd say "x cubed" :D (But I'd also say "x to the four" "x to the tenth" etc. I'm inconsistent :D)

yea I know the short form is just saying "x to the", but that doesn't really make sense grammatically and is still two words so
