I have to admit to being somewhat baffled by the TravisCI story. Acquired by some no-name faceless tools vendor who then decimates the team? Who does that benefit?

If I had to guess - said faceless vendor is probably hoping to be able to sell to Microsoft at some point in the next little while at a tidy profit

I would assume that MS would be more eager to acquire the talent that comes with the product, rather than a software husk. But that's just my gut speaking, might be way off the mark.
