I wish people would think about how their hold music choices sound when pushed through a voice codec. @virginmedia you are making my ears cry.

At Simtec, we spent a few days listening to different music through our VOIP system before choosing the least offensive option for hold music. It was non-bombastic classical, mostly strings. Basically similar frequency distribution to the human voice.

Thank you for your consideration. Also in hold music atrocities: @BupaUK have some kind of crushingly depressing Coldplay-esque piano thing which is very inconsiderate if you're calling up trying to get help for a worrying health issue and have emotional responses to music.
