So, rustup 1.25.1 is out tonight, big thanks to @pietroalbini who stayed up with me to get it done. We've reverted one of our optimisations as it seems to be causing troubles for people; in the official blog post we're asking for input on how to fix. blog.rust-lang.org/2022/07/1โ€ฆ

I'm already hitting problems with crates always barelling forwards with newer and newer features meaning that it's often necessary for me to force nixos to use newer compilers. This problem already exists in one sense, just I don't file the issues :D

Well, I have to say that @MotorFuelGroup 's customer care team is *excellent* - They have sorted the unreasonable eurocarparks situation out rapidly and I could not be happier with them. If you need a rapid charge, I recommend their sites. Just be sure to insist on registering.

Indeed, I think it's very interesting. There'll be some "purists" who will not want to use something unless gcc/Rust can compile it; but they're the sort of people who won't be using Rust stuff currently anyway. I'm all for ecosystem diversity.

So yesterday, trying to reformat a USB stick, Windows decided to remove the GPT table from my dedicated-to-Linux NVME drive. I have no idea how this happened, but thank you to @CGSecurityOrg 's testdisk program which enabled me to recover things. A must-have for any ops toolkit.

Guess what I did as soon as I'd hooked the car up to the charger? I went in and asked and was told I didn't need to register -- if I can't believe the people in the kiosk, I'm a tad stuck.

It was excellent. I have a photo of getting over 100kW which I didn't even think my car could do (2019 i-pace) so I was very happy with the charge, and thus even more incensed by the eurocarparks letter. I'm hopeful your new site near my office will open soon too.

I will do so tonight as I'll need to take a picture of the euro car parks letter. I have already raised a dispute on their website though, so I'll try and include details of that when I email customercare. Thank you.

And regardless, an 8 charger site hardly needs a more restrictive time limit than single charger sites. 90 minutes is the most common limit for sites like this.

I explicitly asked in the kiosk if I needed to register my vehicle since I knew it would be a long charge and was told I did not. Given signage is often out of date (or registration systems sometimes are offline) I took the kiosk worker at their word.

Hey @MotorFuelGroup Do you realise that Euro Car Parks issue parking fines for using your chargers? I am sat here with a ยฃ100 charge notice for using your Stretford rapid chargers. This seems somewhat unreasonable considering there were free stands the whole 1h10m I was there.

I expect this country to reelect the Tories, possibly with an increased majority. We're simply that completely fucked now that I have no faith in anything :(

Thank you for reminding me of Eddie Izzard talking about a monkey on a bike, smoking a pipe, or possibly something else :D

I use vscode for most things, emacs for a few bits and bobs still, and then some form of vim for email - that means neovim on my modern systems just because that's what's to hand normally.

So far I've seen one positive reaction (yours) and one negative reaction (primagen's) to vim9. Almost everyone I know went neovim a while ago and with vim9's new scripting being incompatible again, I imagine they're not going to swap back. Not a vimmer myself, I'm less worried.
