Some people say "Makefiles are old school, you should use Meson, or Shake, or whatever new-fangled build solution you like".
I say "Makefiles are awesome, you should write tools in Make. Bwuahahaha.. Debug that, you youngster, with your IDE"
You made the mistake of voicing an opinion on the Internet :-) You fool :-P
I do that sometimes, and it usually results in people calling me a dinosaur, an idiot, a liar, or whatever else they need to say to appease their fragile egos. Fortunately I've learned to ignore them.
One issue with that kind of thing is that you're going in (even sub-consciously) expecting to dislike it. It's one reason I'm having so much trouble with VSCode. It's not what I use for everything else, so it's not "right".
It's amazing how I gain likes/followers for mentioning VSCode and JavaScript. I dread to think what'd happen if I mentioned React, or Eclipse.
