Maybe easiest way to test would be make a new user on your laptop and try with that? Assuming windows doesn't share network auth data
Umm, that would depend on the software you run. I wouldn't expect it to need you to type stuff in again.

Sometimes ethernet links require you to authenticate, if yours does then it might be as unlikely to work as any other. Have you tried a PC?

Unless you can persuade your uni to provide a limited service on a WPA2 Personal AP, rather than an enterprise one :(

Yeah, some places have silly rules because they don't quite grok security :( A (brief) search suggests you're out of luck sadly :(
