It's backpropagation from 'vlog' which is now used to be the word for a single vid by a vlogger. Thus bloggers write blogs, not blog posts.

I've only ever referred to them as, and seen them referred to as, badges. Given a lot of the time it's not 100%, brag seems a tad overdone
