If you were worried for naive users, then make the global ruleset deny pushing to refs/gitano/admin unless suitably authorised.

For example, Baserock Trove (a git service) mirrors from other troves all the time, gitano->gitano

Typically you would mirror refs/heads/* and refs/tags/* but you can also mirror refs/* and have the server drop the gitano ref.

Hmm. Gitano stores in a central rules repo for the full ruleset; and in a refs/gitano/admin branch per-repo

Is that the standalone git server thingy? I discount it because it wants to put a DB down rather than using the git repo for data.
