@Pahimar Without knowing specifics all I can suggest is that you take some time to enjoy your daughter and "Illegitimi non carborundum" :-)

@frabcus I guess Atom might be good for convincing people who are scared of a shell prompt to edit text files :-)
Replying to @frabcus
@frabcus Mmm it certainly needs to be carefully constructed (the packs) and well run for a good effect. ORG makes sense if they have time.
Replying to @frabcus
@frabcus Sounds worthwhile to me. Not sure I'd be good as a persuasive person though I'd be prepared to assist someone who was.

@frabcus An ambitious idea, but perhaps something worthwhile. Although it ought not be limited to one topic.

Replying to @Habbie
@Habbie Mmm, I read it and thought "This seems to be very focussed on a few minor aspects". I'm still unconvinced I *need* DNSSEC though.

@frabcus TBF, right now I'm more worried about the latest knee-jerk political reaction to the *idea* of widespread effective cryptography.

@frabcus Sadly I don't know of any material on that sort of thing because thus-far hardware is 'unsafe' :-( (AFAIK)

@eyebrowsofpower @frabcus I don't consider the wealth of string-related libraries a problem. Builtins are not the be-all-and-end-all.
Replying to @fjmd1
@fjmd1 @frabcus Idiots exist in all spheres. Mistakes happen. The true failing here was a lack of review on critical code.
@frabcus Yes it's a smaller surface, but all that means is that all the attacks are focussed there. There's money in attacks :-(

@frabcus Also, you're still assuming that the compiler is good and that the author understands the chip in question.

@frabcus While things like OCaml for PIC might be good overall, you'll still need direct coding for cycle goals. Hardware is unforgiving.
Replying to @frabcus
@frabcus IronPython's workbook type things are pretty good I'm told -- and work from a browser so nicely cross-platform.

@frabcus My point is that a clickbaity "promise" to "never" use C/C++ isn't helpful beyond stirring up a few people who already know better.

@frabcus The danger in languages like C come from their power. If you remove the danger you remove the power. Sometimes power is needed.
