Yeah. I'm a little skeptical that the scottwiener-seizecontrol.org… image is actually NYC given how few of the cars have front license plates. But it seems like it could be a nice place to live...
I was basically thinking you have to cross the bulk of the ocean in question. (I also wasn't counting trans-Tasman flights!)
AKL-EZE, AKL-SCL, SYD-SCL, SYD-JNB, GRU-JNB, PER-JNB, PER-MRU,... what else?
It's a small market, and the lack of diversion airports often requires the use of (less fuel-efficient) 4-engine aircraft.

Then again, I'm not sure about the ETOPS certifications for the aircraft with the necessary range... would need to check those!

PPT-RUN is a bit shorter if you want something that doesn't require a nearly-empty aircraft

An architectural preservationist just told me: One reason it's hard to put out fires in cathedrals is that pouring water on fire-heated stone will cause it to crack and shift

Strongest possible recommendation for ⁦@jbouie⁩ ‘s piece arguing against disenfranchising incarcerated people. I just wish he’d also touched on apportionment. The US disenfranchises black and brown ppl disproportionately but then counts prisoners nytimes.com/2019/04/11/opini…

Palo Alto already has balcony minimums in the multifamily residential zones (but not CD-*). See the "Minimum private open space" entry in Table 2 of chapter 18.13 of the municipal code: library.amlegal.com/nxt/gate… (50 square feet per unit in RM-20, RM-30, and RM-40)

There is a point where a little bit more airport would be nice: goo.gl/maps/esCRBcSPpeq (smallest airport I've been to).

I don't see what the problem is, other than needing to mark the decimal points more clearly. (I assume $2.999 per gallon, 3.35 gallons, $10.05 total.) Then again, maybe I'm a decade too old to be confused? (I grew up with a microwave with that sort of dial for the timer.)

In the early 1960s, CA’s population was 15 million & we built 250K-300K homes/year. Today, CA’s population is 40 million & we build 80K homes/year. So our population nearly tripled while housing production dropped by over 2/3. And people wonder why housing is so expensive.

Despite all the rhetoric, and many elected bodies crying about “local control”, a majority of Californians support #SB50 because they want to see a California with abundant, secure, and affordable #housing.
New polling from California shows that over 60% of voters support SB 50, and that most give CA public schools a C, D, or F grade ⬇️ medium.com/@ChngRsrch/majori…

But it should be "on the entire lot" or "on half the lot", nothing to do with acres.

Worth comparing to at age ~45, and men versus women, to try to separate out maternal mortality.

Life expectancy at age 5 is often a much more interesting statistic than life expectancy at birth...
