We shouldn't reduce MIT to only Epstein. His crimes are odious but we should investigate the structural dependence of our research and culture on private wealth (without transparency). I once researched where art galleries got their money and ended up at Mugabe.

If they win it on their own, sounds fine. But the more likely case is probably inheriting the Senate seat from daddy, which is what the founders were trying to prevent.

The huge TO ALL TRAINS sign and the sheet of paper on a post saying it's wrong isn't particularly helpful either.
I wonder why @SFBART 's bart.gov/schedules/eta?stn=M… shows Millbrae-Airport trains on the wrong platform until just before they arrive?

Today involved a good bit of travel planning for January 2020 (CSS WG meeting and Mozilla All-Hands). I save travel-related stuff to directories structured by dates. My muscle memory is not accustomed to those dates not beginning with "201"...

One interesting feature of Android 10 is that it tells you when apps are getting your location in the background, and asks if you'd like to disable that permission. I just got my second such notification, this time for a pretty major app: @Uber , which I hadn't used since June.

The theory that gun owners would rather murder law enforcement officers than surrender illegal firearms strikes me as a logical outgrowth of the insurrectionist theory of the 2nd Amendment, which happens to be entirely made up. slate.com/news-and-politics/…
The AR-15 is the most popular rifle in America. I'm not sure why anyone would believe trying to confiscate them wouldn't result in significant violence. What @MeghanMcCain said isn't new. That's been the animating concept of the gun rights movement since Lexington and Concord.

Was there any attempt to control for streets with comparable levels of traffic? Or is it just that these streets are busier?

My AB 670 was signed by @GavinNewsom! Now millions of homeowners who have been previously prohibited by HOAs will soon have the ability to help solve our housing crisis by building additional units on their property.

In 2017 63,200 Californians moved to Texas. Most did so in search of affordable housing. When they lived in CA their per capita GHG was 9 tons, in TX it jumped to 26 tons. That's over a million tons of GHG from just one year to just one state. BUILD MORE HOMES CA! #housingcrisis

Okay, important HOUSING CIVIL RIGHTS ALERT: Trump is currently trying to shoot a bunch of holes in the Fair Housing Act. They're trying to insert a huge carveout, especially for financial institutions, in the part of the Act that bars racial segregation and discrimination.

A map of the US where the area of the states is proportional to the amount of time candidates spent campaigning there in 2016. FL is massive, CA is tiny, and NY doesn't even appear. kottke.org/19/08/distorted-u…
