HTML Idea: <input type="country"> which would become a searchable dropdown with all countries and their flags. Wouldn't that be awesome?

Just refer to an existing standard, like ISO 3166-1 alpha-3

And in how many jurisdictions would use of that list be illegal if it were labeled as "Country" (rather than, say, "Country or Region")?

Any more controversial than what emoji flags ship, though? (And I realise Mozilla uniquely don't ship fonts.)

At a minimum, the emoji flags aren't explicitly described as countries.

Yes, as with blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/old… years ago. I like the idea of not having that massive list several times on a page or duped in script.
