Airshow photography: took 750 shots, deleted 200 for focus/framing, culled the rest down to ~150 "not awful". Moving aircraft are tricky!

Seems like manual focus, at ∞, ought to work for an airshow and avoid focus problems. Or were you somehow closer than I think?

Mmm, probably should have tried, but changing zoom shifts focus, so I'd still end up refocusing a lot. (Also, I was pretty close. :)

Ah, right, some lenses do that. My telephoto doesn't (cost $50 more); focus is stable across zoom (I think there's a word for that).

"Parfocal" (vs "varifocal")! Fuji makes a couple, but not for my camera (ironically also Fuji) and they're like $5K a pop.
