I love the stylized 水 (water) in both of these. In general I'm amazed that folks can read handwritten and stylized Han glyphs.

Pretty neat! Actually, "looks like a beak with a ladder next to it" is the mnemonic I use for that one :)

I've seen a restaurant that had little toy chickens on the wall in place of that character on their wall-menus.
