this may happen at bugzilla, I've seen well-known bugs staying as 'unconfirmed' for months, until someone starts working on them

In this case, I don't see the problem you describe. Why do you see it and I don't? Is it Mac-only?

as I understand, the problem is that <button> behaves as inline-block even with display:inline (and appearance:none)
