“Toasters took down the internet!” is a fun headline, but all IoT did was enable attack at a scale that exposed other points of failure.

It's more than that; devices are being sold in quantity that weren't designed in a way appropriate for connection to Internet.

sure, and these quantities are just the beginning. we still need to fix the points of failure that were exposed.
But most of these devices should be behind NATs. How are they accessed in the first place?
