All the doom and gloom about Twitter (e.g. economist.com/news/business/…) makes me sad. So it's not growing. It's still great.

I guess this is what you get when you take a company public, though: an expectation of indefinite growth. It's not enough to just be there.

I think the problem with a public company is that if it doesn’t grow you are forced to keep changing it until it grows or breaks.

In many industries, shareholders are fine with profitability without growth, but management often isn't.

Yeah, but to make things worse Twitter is not entirely profitable, and is dropping in usage. @domenic
