I marked the bug invalid. Gecko never implemented that transforms don't apply to display:inline; was in flux when we impl'd.

I filed bugzil.la/1298216 to change Gecko; seems we just missed that spec change (from 5 years ago).

Or maybe I just had too many testcases open in too many browsers, and I entirely made it up.

Though I did file crbug.com/641162 as one valid bug in the process...
