I would like it to be CSSWG policy to never use the word 'mode' in a property name again. (Pref also in the past, but no time machine atm.)

@fantasai "blend mode" is an existing technical term that I think makes sense to use

@davidbaron I'm still not convinced it's necessary here. background-blend seems plenty clear enough to me.

@davidbaron UI labels &spec titles can of course call it whatever is conventional. But CSS keywords should be concise & not waste space imo.
