@timdream Roughly, I think, layers are for things that *might* render to their own graphics memory, and active layers are ones that *do*.

@davidbaron I think it's important for front-end dev to tell between normal layers vs OMTA layers. Anyway, bug 1055903 already filed.

@timdream OMT animated layers would be a subset of active layers (which would all be OMT composited when we have OMT compsiting)

@davidbaron Wait, OMTA and OMTC are of different things? To reaffirm — dev should target hitting OMTA for animation performance right?

@timdream Yes, different. OMTC is compositing on its own thread. OMTA is animations (opacity, transform) running on compositor thread.
