@davidbaron Spec says “optional” ligatures, so only applies if font-variant-ligatures etc hasn’t turned them on.

@LeaVerou I read that as meaning ligatures for English as opposed to ligatures for Arabic.

@davidbaron AFAIK only Gecko uses ligatures as a default (thumbs up). In many cases, authors turn them on for root, then need to override.
