Considering the argument that south should be at top of maps so the sun's "movement" matches our left to right writing.

@davidbaron but if you're facing the only fixed point in the sky (north star) the map's right is your right, its left is your left.

@dveditz But that argument goes 50/50 for each hemisphere. Two fixed points, each visible from half the earth, opposite results.

@davidbaron I've seen Australian-printed maps with south at the top--works for me :-)
