But that pseudo name matches marker-offset, which is quite a bit older, so I'd put the "origin" of the name quite a bit earlier.

yeah, first appearance of "marker" in a spec is march 98 I think w3.org/TR/1998/PR-CSS2-19980… but the pseudo-element itself, is the one I mentioned above with the funny note
