I'm ordering takeout from a restaurant website (via @clovercommerce). I finish the order, enter my credit card number, and then... (I've never had a CAPTCHA show up right after hitting a "Place order" or "Buy now" button before.)

captchas on credit card checkouts are unfortunately very common. Otherwise, you become a target of "testing" valid/invalid stolen credit cad numbers and with a high enough failure rate, you run the risk of your Visa fees zooming up :(
