Even his requests for spec publication approval are several levels above everyone else. :P

I hope that means that at least one person was able to understand it. (It was still probably too long. And I've since thought of a better way to explain the "half a step" difference)

I am not an expert on the spec, and not terribly qualified to judge whether the edits are good ones, but the mail about them was clear.
