Image how annoying it is to be lectured about the seriousness of covid when you’ve already had covid by someone who hasn’t. Many many many Americans have had direct experiences with covid by now and understand the risks to themselves quite accurately.

I haven't (to my knowledge) had covid, but I do know people who currently have long covid, and hearing their complaints about being (a) significantly disabled as a result of a mild case and (b) effectively ignored by the medical system don't give me confidence in risk being low.

I have long covid. I hadn’t left the house for six days when I was infected by a family member which lead to high viral load
