Apparently a developer is gonna try to build an apartment building (24 units) on two lots currently zoned for single-family homes in Palo Alto, and I cannot *wait* to see how this goes

Though the article's claim that the "entire neighborhood" is zoned for single-family homes is not quite right -- there's a substantial area of RMD just to the east.
(RMD and R-2 are almost the same -- duplex zoning -- except for different (MF/SF) comp plan designations.)
