Did they ever extend the U1 in Berlin to connect to the main trunk lines at both ends?

Looks like the east end is going to get connected in the next few months. But the west end is still dangling.

I think that construction is renovation, not new construction. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schles… says the station opened in 1902!
