Fun fact: There actually wasn't a single district in Georgia that, in 2018, saw as low turnout as AOC's 2018 general election. You wanna talk about voter suppression, let's start with New York
Georgia isn’t a red state. It’s a voter-suppressed state. Last night #TeamAOC mobilized to raise $100k *directly* to grassroots orgs @fairfightaction, @NewGAProject,& more. Time to charge forward & support the folks leading the way. Let’s kick it up: secure.actblue.com/donate/ao…

NY-14's general election in 2018 had 153,520 total votes. The lowest-turnout House race in Geogia was in GA-8, where the Republican ran uncontested. 198,200 voters still turned out. John Lewis's general was also uncontested and he got 275,406 votes.

No no no, you've misunderstood – it's not voter suppression, we just designed the electoral system so that nobody wants to vote!
Idiotic misunderstanding or distortion: everyone knows what outcome will be in AOC district for Congress and President. So people don’t flock to the polls. There is NO VOTER SUPPRESSION.

The irony is that this Democratic strategist is tweeting from California, where they have designed their electoral system so that even safe blue/red districts see competitive general elections and generally higher turnout than NY's

Most of the safe districts in California still have R-D general elections. Some of them end up with D-D or R-R general elections, but it's not the majority. e.g., this year, the Bay Area only had 2 congressional districts with D-D generals (12 Pelosi-Buttar, 18 Eshoo-Kumar)

idk about 18 but I wouldn't call 12 "competitive" That said we did have a rousing D on D Senate contest 2 years ago.

By rousing you mean all the Republicans voted for the more left-wing Democrat (who was the one endorsed by the state party!) because he was somebody other than the Democrat they knew, but the incumbent not endorsed by the state party won anyway?
