To @nytimes authorities that may read this: everyone watches your results pages. So many are so misled by how you report results. #NY16 is NOT AT ALL 82% reporting. Not in sense ppl will understand. People will soon take "100%" to mean it's done. So crucial to update this ASAP.

"100% reporting" usually means every precinct is reporting Election Day results (or some). That's all. There could still be hundreds of thousands of ballots that'll change results by a lot. Often up to 10% in CA & AZ in years past, & now it'll be all country given rise of mail.

To give a real example (with data I happen to have handy): In the June 5, 2018 mayor's race in San Francisco, when it was "100% reporting" at the end of election night, there were 150740 votes cast (Leno winning). In final results, there were 251032 votes cast (Breed won).
