Amazing how rare it is, esp when you consider that Adams and Jefferson were not "vice presidents" in the same sense since they were not elected as running mates of their respective presidents.

Maybe also worth counting how many VPs were candidates for president prior to becoming the VP nominee. That seems like a recent trend, perhaps?
