I wrote a new blog post! LCH colors in CSS: What, why, and how? lea.verou.me/2020/04/lch-col… Describes what LCH colors are, why they're exciting, and releases an LCH color picker tool I made to visualize!

Ah good point, I should’ve mentioned that. Though it’s about to change, they’re gonna turn that on by default very soon. @svgeesus or @davidbaron might be able to provide a source.

Proper color management is currently scheduled to be turned on in Firefox 77 (though that could change); the only source I have is bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bu… . We don't have support for colors outside of the sRGB gamut, though. (Do other browsers?)

Safari does, since 2017, though via color(display-p3) only, which has all other flaws of the RGB color model. Chrome is I believe working on it, perhaps @tabatkins can confirm.

Seems like it will slip at least one release due to bugs with canvas.

Good, so that at least gives a consistent user experience. Yes, Safari supports display-p3 for 4 years now. Hoping Firefox, Chrome catch up to unlock wide gamut screens on PCs, Android phones, etc

I can confirm that colors are no longer over-saturated in Firefox Nightly. Version 77 should be released in June. 🍾
